Activision describes DLC 5 as a love letter to the community, and will reveal more during a live stream on May 8. It's possible that this will also be the PS4 release date, although Xbox One and PC users will have to wait another 30 days. Sledgehammer Games has launched an interactive teaser site that has been mined for clues about Zombies mode. Fans discovered a series of letters on the Zombies teaser image. Typing those letters in using the decoder on the Zombies teaser site unlocks a file containing two images. As Reddit users have pointed out, the left image is linked to Operation Barbarossa, which is when the Nazi's invaded the Soviet Union. Zombies mode, campaign and multiplayer? Call of Duty is…not feeling the freshest these days. Everyone loves Zombies as a mode, so why not go all-out and make a fully zombie-themed Call of Duty? The campaign would be set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland in more or less present day which is infested by zombies, who you have to mow down with your usual arsenal of weaponry. But rather than being some global war between countries, the war would be against the zombies themselves, interspersed with fights with other groups, bandits, cannibals, rogue paramilitary units and so on, so something is actually firing back at you as well.
Noir — A dark, grimy city map inspired by futuristic Brooklyn at night, Noir is a classic three-lane map set against a backdrop of a dystopian future, filled with cafes and parks surrounding a brutal downtown warzone. Neon — A virtual training center designed for urban warfare, Neon is a unique, digitized battle arena where cars and other structures spawn out of thin air and enemies dissolve into hundreds of pixels when defeated. Middle lane sightlines will cater to long-range players while the outsides of the map allow for quick counter-attacks in close-quarter action. Renaissance — Set in Northern Italy, Renaissance pits players against each other on the narrow streets of Venice surrounded by classic architecture and buildings that promote continuous action through the canals and neighborhoods of this iconic city. Dominion — A reimagining of the classic Afghan map from Modern Warfare 2, now set on Mars, Dominion retains the memorable landmarks and gameplay of the original, anchored by the crashed ship in the center, with a few enhancements designed to take advantage of the new movement system.

The game's campaign is set in the European theatre and is centered around a squad in the 1st Infantry Division following their battles on the Western Front and set mainly in the historical events of Operation Overlord. The player controls Ronald "Red" Daniels, who has squadmates who can supply the player with extra ammunition, health, or grenades as well as a targeted grenade and target spotting; none of these are automatically replenished in the campaign. The multiplayer mode features map locations not seen in the campaign. The mode also features the new Divisions system, replacing the create-a-class system that previous games in the series used. A social hub, Headquarters, was also implemented into the game, allowing for players to interact with each other. Sledgehammer Games were interested in bringing the series back to World War II after developing their previous title, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare , which featured advanced movements and futuristic warfare technology.
